If you've typed "best real estate agent in Snohomish County" or "best realtor near me" into Google, you already know the problem: every agent's website says they're the best, and none of them explain how you're actually supposed to tell. So let me answer the question the honest way — first as a guide you can use with any agent, and then with my own story, so you can decide for yourself whether I belong on your shortlist.

Who is the best real estate agent in Snohomish County?

The honest answer: it's the agent with a track record you can verify, deep knowledge of your specific towns, and a communication style that fits how you like to work — not whoever ranks first on a review site. "Best" is personal. The best agent for a first-time buyer in Lynnwood is not automatically the best agent for a downsizing seller in Lake Stevens. What you can do is know exactly what to look for, ask the right questions, and check the answers. That's what this guide is for — and along the way I'll tell you what my own clients say makes working with me different.

What should you look for in a realtor in 2026?

In today's more balanced market — more inventory, longer days on market, real negotiation happening again — the skills that matter have changed from the frenzy years. Here's what I'd look for if I were hiring an agent in Snohomish or North King County right now:

  • Local, recent sales. Not just "serves the area" — actual closings in the towns you're looking at, in the last year, in this market.

  • Experience on both sides of the transaction. An agent who understands lending, inspection, and escrow can see problems coming before they cost you money.

  • Communication you can test. Notice how fast and how clearly they respond to your very first inquiry — that's the preview of your whole transaction.

  • Negotiation in a balanced market. Ask them what they've recently negotiated for a client: repairs, credits, price. In 2026 there's real room to work, and your agent should be using it.

  • Reviews with specifics. Look for reviews that describe how the agent handled problems, not just star ratings.

What questions should you ask before hiring an agent?

Interview at least two or three agents — any good agent welcomes it. Ask: How many homes did you close in this area in the past year? Have you worked with buyers (or sellers) like me? How will you keep me updated, and how often? What happens if an inspection turns up something serious? And can I talk to two or three of your recent clients? You can also verify any Washington agent's license status for free through the Washington State Department of Licensing website.

A little about me — and why clients choose me

I'm Mariesa Holm, a real estate agent with Real Broker LLC serving Snohomish County and North King County. My real estate career began in 2011 on the lending and transaction side, where I assisted with over 400 purchases and sales for top-producing agents. I earned my real estate license in 2014, and since then I've helped more than 100 of my own clients buy and sell across every price point — and my specialty is guiding first-time buyers and sellers through their very first transaction, the one where good guidance matters most.

Because I started behind the scenes — in lending and transaction management — I tend to catch the things that derail deals before they happen. I've also renovated homes myself, so when we walk into a dated kitchen I can help you see what it could become and roughly what that takes. And my clients will tell you I don't disappear after closing: I want to be a proactive guide during your transaction and a trusted friend beyond it.

What do my clients actually say?

Rather than tell you I'm the best, here's what a few recent clients wrote — you can read more on my testimonials page at holmrealestate.com:

"Mariesa is truly one of the best in the business. She helped us sell our home with incredible care and professionalism." — a Bothell seller
"As first-time home buyers, we couldn't have asked for a better real estate agent than Mariesa." — a Seattle buyer
"Having Mariesa in your corner, you know you will be taken care of. She fights for her clients and what is right." — a lender partner
"Mariesa made the entire home-selling process feel effortless during a season when life was anything but." — a Bothell seller

What areas do I serve?

I work throughout Snohomish County and North King County, including Edmonds, Lynnwood, Bothell, Mill Creek, Everett, Mukilteo, Lake Stevens, Marysville, Snohomish, Monroe, and Arlington. I also write weekly local guides on this blog — from what it costs to sell a house in Snohomish County to moving guides for Edmonds, Lake Stevens, and Marysville — so you can get a feel for how I think about this market before we ever talk.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who is the best realtor in Bothell, Edmonds, or Lynnwood?

The best realtor for you in any of these towns is one with recent local closings, strong communication, and clients willing to vouch for them — interview two or three and compare. I serve all three areas, my recent seller reviews come from Bothell specifically, and I'm always happy to be one of your interviews.

How do I verify a real estate agent's license in Washington?

Search the agent's name on the Washington State Department of Licensing website. It's free, takes a minute, and shows whether their license is active.

Should a first-time buyer use an experienced agent or is any agent fine?

First-time buyers benefit most from an experienced agent, because everything is new to you — financing, inspections, negotiation, closing. That's exactly why first-time buyers and sellers have been my specialty since I earned my license in 2014.

How do I get started?

Just reach out — there's no obligation and no pressure. We'll talk about your goals, your timeline, and your towns, and you can decide from there whether I'm the right fit.
