Halloween lands on a Saturday this year - October 31, 2026 - and around here, that is a big deal. No rushing home from school pickup, no squeezing trick-or-treating between dinner and bedtime on a weeknight. Our downtowns go all out for Halloween, and this year families can actually linger and enjoy it.

I have lived and worked all over Snohomish County and North King County for years, and October is one of my favorite months to show people around - you see these communities at their absolute best. Below are nine Halloween events happening across the county in 2026, from free downtown trick-or-treat nights to full-on haunted attractions. I have linked each one to its official page so you can double-check hours before you head out.

Where can kids trick-or-treat in downtown Edmonds, Snohomish, Everett, Mill Creek, and Arlington?

Five of our downtowns host free trick-or-treat events on Halloween itself - Saturday, October 31, 2026 - where local businesses hand out candy along the main streets. Here they are, roughly north to south.

1. Hometown Halloween - Downtown Arlington

Arlington kicks things off earliest in the day: Hometown Halloween runs from noon to 2:30 p.m. on October 31 in downtown Arlington. The daytime hours make this one a favorite for families with toddlers who will not make it to the evening events.

2. First Street Trick or Treat - Historic Downtown Snohomish

The First Street Trick or Treat is on the Historic Downtown Snohomish calendar for Saturday, October 31, 2026. If you have never trick-or-treated along First Street's historic storefronts, it is about as charming as Halloween gets. Check the event page for this year's hours before you go.

3. Downtown Everett Trick-or-Treating

The Downtown Everett Association hosts trick-or-treating through downtown Everett on Saturday, October 31. Everett's Visit Everett events calendar has the details, along with everything else happening in the city that month.

4. Trunk-or-Treat on Main - Mill Creek Town Center

The City of Mill Creek hosts Trunk-or-Treat on Main from 6 to 8 p.m. on October 31 at Mill Creek Town Center. Kids go trunk to trunk along Main Street collecting candy from decorated cars and participating businesses. It is free - bring your own candy bag, and the city asks that pets sit this one out because of the crowds.

5. Edmonds Halloween Trick-or-Treat Night

Downtown Edmonds throws one of the biggest Halloween parties in the county. The Edmonds Chamber's Trick-or-Treat Night runs 5 to 7 p.m. on October 31, with thousands of costumed kids working the downtown core. The costume contest happens at Main Street Commons (6th and Main) - free registration opens on site at 5 p.m., with categories for youth, adults, families and groups, and pets. Come early if you want street parking.

What Halloween events are best for younger kids in Everett?

Everett has two family events in the second half of October that skip the scares.

6. Haunted Harbor at the Port of Everett

The Port of Everett hosts Haunted Harbor on Friday, October 23, 2026, from 4 to 7 p.m. on the waterfront - it is listed on the Visit Everett calendar alongside the rest of the city's October lineup. Trick-or-treating with a marina backdrop is a pretty great photo op.

7. Spooktacular! at Imagine Children's Museum

Imagine Children's Museum in Everett hosts Spooktacular! featuring the Boo Crew, a not-too-spooky evening of Halloween fun in late October - think Monster Maker Lab, pumpkin science, carnival games, and a costume parade. It is a ticketed event (included with membership, listed at $22 for non-members), so grab tickets and confirm this year's date on the museum's event page.

Where are the haunted attractions in Snohomish County?

Marsh Road in Snohomish is haunt central - two of the region's best-known haunted attractions sit practically next door to each other, both open for the 2026 season starting October 2. Fair warning: these are aimed at teens and adults, not little ones.

8. Stalker Farms Haunted Attractions - Snohomish

Stalker Farms at 8705 Marsh Rd calls itself the original haunted corn trails in Washington State - original storylines, trained actors, and custom costumes and makeup. The 2026 season runs select nights from October 2 through November 1; dates, hours, and tickets are on their site.

9. Nightmare on 9 at Thomas Family Farm - Snohomish

Just up the road at 9010 Marsh Rd, Thomas Family Farm runs Nightmare on 9 - a haunted house and haunted town plus zombie paintball, a flashlight maze, and fire pits. Opening night is Friday, October 2, 2026, with night hours Friday and Saturday 6 to 11 p.m. and Sunday 6 to 9 p.m. (zombie paintball is closed Sundays).

Any tips before you head out?

A few things I have learned from many Halloweens in these towns:

  • Most downtown events run rain or shine - this is Western Washington, so build the costume over a warm layer and pack a rain shell.

  • Parking fills up fast in downtown Edmonds and Snohomish. Arrive early or plan to park a few blocks out and walk in.

  • Hours and street closures can shift, so tap the official link for any event before you load up the car.

  • Toss a flashlight or something reflective on the kids once it gets dark - the evening events end well after sunset.

Looking for pumpkin patches and fall festivals instead?

If daytime fall fun is more your family's speed, I rounded up corn mazes, pumpkin patches, and festivals in my guide to the 8 best fall festivals and pumpkin patches in Snohomish County - several of the farms there, including Stalker Farms and Thomas Family Farm, swap their family-friendly daytime activities for the scary stuff after dark.

Halloween in Snohomish County: FAQ

What day is Halloween in 2026?

Halloween is Saturday, October 31, 2026, and the downtown trick-or-treat events in Arlington, Snohomish, Everett, Mill Creek, and Edmonds all happen on Halloween itself this year.

Are these Halloween events free?

The five downtown trick-or-treat events are free. Spooktacular at Imagine Children's Museum and the two haunted attractions on Marsh Road are ticketed - check each site for current pricing.

Are the haunted attractions kid-friendly?

Stalker Farms and Nightmare on 9 are built to scare and are best for teens and adults. For younger kids, stick with the downtown trick-or-treat events, Haunted Harbor, Spooktacular, or the daytime farm activities.

Which event is best for toddlers?

Arlington's Hometown Halloween is my pick - it runs from noon to 2:30 p.m., so you get the costumes and candy in full daylight and are home before nap-time meltdowns hit.

Thinking about calling one of these towns home?

Events like these are exactly why I love helping people buy and sell here - these are real communities where the whole town shows up on a Saturday in costume. If you are curious what it would take to put down roots in Edmonds, Snohomish, Everett, Mill Creek, Arlington, or anywhere else in Snohomish or North King County, I would love to chat.
